Abby had eye muscle surgery earlier this week to try and correct her eye misalignment. It was a quick outpatient procedure and she did great. It took her doctor only 20 minutes to detach the eye muscles of both eyes and reattach them in a different spot. Pretty impressive. He said he was glad we did the procedure right now because he could tell by looking at the muscles that she had not been using her eyes together this whole time. That is dangerous because it means she had been turning off the vision in one eye. If we had continued to let her do that, she could have lost the vision in that eye permanently. It could still take a few weeks before we see results though. Hopefully it will help with her head tilt as well. Her doctor said that it is not uncommon for children with an eye misalignment to tilt their head in order to compensate for the weaker eye. So now we just have to watch and wait. Where have I heard that before??
Since I am pretty sure that no one looks at my regular family blog anymore, I thought I would put up some random snippets that would have eventually made it onto that blog....for those of you who are interested in what the rest of our family does these days.
Spencer is obsessed with the piano. I am so glad that it is electric and has an OFF button. Otherwise I would hear him banging on the keys all day long, every time he passes by. Doesn't he look like such a big boy sitting on the bench all by himself? Girls like guys who play the piano - keep it up stud!
He is also rather obsessed with the cupboard where we keep all of Abby's formula. I find him in here at least once each day - pulling everything out, of course.
Anthony and I have our 7th wedding anniversary this weekend. And what says I love you better than pink velvet cake pops? Mmmmmm. They took me all day to make, but Anthony really liked them. So that makes it worth it, right? Even though I had to completely neglect my children and then ran out of time to make dinner because I had to take Abby to an appointment in the afternoon? Ummm, yes. They were TOTALLY worth it!
And if anyone wants some, please let me know because even with my incredible need for sweets, there is no way we can eat all 50 of these!!!
Wow those cake balls look amazing! I am SUPER impressed! And I am the same way - whenever I try to do something big like that everything else falls by the wayside. They look worth it though :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery helps! Keep us posted :) And Oh my goodness Spencer looks SO BIG!
